Vtec Question

Hi im running a d16y7 with a (si) d16y8 wiring harness and ecu.. My question is d16y7 doesnt have vtec so i keep getting the check engine light code 22 (vtec) How would i trick the comp to think there is a vtec so the check engine goes away..

And also with the check engine light on is the car in disable mode? Wich means i cant rev past 5500 rpm?

im asking advice from people that know what they are doing..

well if the ecu was in limp mode it wouldn't be able to rev past 4000rpms....but having the CEL on doesn't always throw the car into limp mode.
Not sure if you could trick the ecu into thinking there is no vtec, unless you remove the vtec components from the ecu (or specifically just the 5151 high side switches)....but i'm not even sure if that would work....i know on an obd1 ecu, all you'd need to do is remove the 5151 high side switch and cut j10 and obviously run a non-vtec program on the chip.
