you can add vtec to any ecu. Its worth it, b/c its much cheaper than buying a p28....but in order to run the proper program (for example a b16 program or whatever) you will also need to chip the ecu.

guy, I think from his post he means like adding an external VTEC control? at least that's how I understand it?

there are three ways to put vtec in a non vtec car

1. buy proper ECU, run proper wiring
2. have zeeman open your P06 ECU and add the components for VTEC and chip it with the right program (same as buying proper ECU but cheaper)
3. hack together some kinda RPM based switch that will activate the VTEC solenoid and force VTEC to come on... this is the worst solution and bypasses OEM installed checkpoints such as oilpressure and coolant temp... NOT RECOMMENDED

yes, you won't know the difference.
I've been using a chipped p06 converted to p28 for like 3 years now and in countless friends cars.

Ive been running one also,
The p06 use the same bords as the p28, so add in the components and there an equivelent
I did a **** load of ecu conversions this summer, they all run like a stock p28

i can't find any surface mount parts local.
I get most of the parts from Sayal (except chips and vtec parts).

the board doesn't matter.
I'm assuming he needs the surface mount 74HC373 transistor (which you use the same one no matter what board type), which he can get from digikey, or mouser.com.
