Got my court dates! (now i need ur help)
Ok guys i got 3 tickets to take care of, all are tuesday at 7pm at the scarborough court, i need some help from u ppl on what i should say.
1) Improper display of plates: i put the plate back in place and im gonna take a pic of it tomorrow so if i show the pic to the judge hel let me off right?
2) Uneseccary noise: that was because of my exaust, however when i got pulled over i was in a pack of 20-30 cars with exausts and mine's not even that loud, also there are cars and bikes (V8s' etc...) that have louder engines than my exaust so...
3) Improper muffler: im pretty sure aftermarket mufflers are legal right?
so what do you guys suggest i do or say for these 3 tickets, and what do you think the judge will say?
thanx

1) you should be let off if u show 'em the picture
2) are you sure it was because of your exhaust? no burnout or anything of that sort? ( this is in with relation to number 3, so make sure relate this with each other )
3) your original muffler rusted out and you had replaced it with a nice stainless steel one
g'luck, hopefully you saved yourself the 350 or so dollars

there is a limit, according to the Transport Canada website
there is a limit, according to the Transport Canada website
1106. (1) Every vehicle, other than a motorcycle, shall be constructed so that:
(iv) in the case of a light-duty vehicle, not in excess of 80 dBA when measured in accordance with SAE Standard J986a, "Sound Level for Passenger Cars and Light Trucks", (July 1972),
where a value of 2 dBA, to allow for variations in test site, temperature gradients, wind velocity gradients, test equipment and vehicle production tolerances is subtracted from the highest average noise value recorded during the test described in the publication referred to in subparagraph (i), (ii), (iii) or (iv), as the case may be.

so all that means is....if you have a loud muffler, make sure you only drive near cunstruction sites.
ALL cars can easily exceed the +2 or -2 db of the surounding noise level by just gunning it. If you can hear it over all the other noises on the road, then it can be construded as excessive noise.
Do you know how quiet 80db is?
Environmental Noise
Weakest sound heard ...........0dB
Normal conversation (3-5') ....60-70dB
Telephone dial tone ...............80dB
City Traffic (inside car) ...........85dB
Train whistle at 500' ..............90dB
Subway train at 200' .............95dB
Level at which sustained exposure may result
in hearing loss .....................90 - 95dB
Power mower .......................107dB
Power saw ...........................110dB
Pain begins ..........................125dB
Pneumatic riveter at 4' .........125dB
Jet engine at 100' ................140dB
Death of hearing tissue ........180dB
Heres another list....
Just to let you know.......motorcycles are already in the upper 90's. (Harley's not included).
