Swapping to a B16b

I got a 89 Civic and the motors got about 300,000km and I want to swapp it with a new enigine. Someone told me a b16b would be my best bet.

what would be the best engine to put in a 89 civic and how much would it set me back?

Also what are all the parts am I gonna need to do this.

I really dont think your ready for a b16b...If you have limited funds and looking for a swap do try a zc or dohc zc swap!

b16b is the CTR I believe (civic type R), way over priced IMO, just go with a b16a1, or if your on a budget or just getting started, do like Sleekef said DOHC ZC

raced tuned high performance engine
Any engine can be race tuned. If you want a factory motor that is somewhat ready to take some red line screaming, B16B is good, because it is a destroked B18C engine. Having said that, B18C, and ZC are good choices as well.

And race tuned, do you race?

4 to 5 grand will get you a B16B to your door step (more or less) and that's about it. If you can do your own work, great. If not, prepare another grand to hire some professional to do the job.

Having said that, there is no way to tell how the engine has been running back home in Japan (or even in North America, since it is used) so until you install the engine and run it, you can't tell if the clutch is bad, or if the gear grinds or other little things.

If you have this much money to spend, build your own engine. Contact one of our affiliates (Concept On Wheels) and they can build a race engine for you, and you can finance it too. How does 2.3% interest rate sound? Not bad eh?

Honestly, if you want a fresh engine, build one. There is almost always risk involved in buying a second hand engine. But building one from a shop that can be trusted is not just a peace of mind, but it is a job that is guarantee to work.

If you really want a "B16B" (other than having the block stamped B16B on it), start with a B18C block and destroke it.

Better yet, see the sticky thread on the top? 200HP B16? Just buy that and find a LSD tranny, get some fresh engine mount and you will be a happy camper. And that should run you maybe a little over 5G.

Sounds like a plan? I think so.

for the price of a b16b which would be about 5500 with out mounts so add another 500 plus more $$ its not worth it if you wanted a solid set up that has decent relablility i would go with a b18 a or b in it and turbo it cause even still a b18a swap with a turbo set up is still way cheaper than a b16b
