Hi, I drive a 1999 Civic SI. Lately, the underbody of the car is making some funny dinging noise. I've brought it to 2 dealers, but they both couldn't determine the cause. Would anyone know what's the cause?

10 bux it's the heat shield on the exhaust...happened to my sister's 2000 civic se twice

describe the noise it can be from many things.. what area is it coming from ( near rear . front area) is it linked to something rotating? does it go faster when speed increases?.

or could it be something like the heatsheild on you cat has come loose and dings onto the cat itself?

Im gonna guess heat shield as well, I used to have pinging in my old car.

Thanks all. I had my car jagged up on the weekend at my friend's place. He told me it could be the heat shield as well. The noise is noiser when the weather is hot. Any how, if it's the heat shield, then I don't really need to worry any further.
