failed etest
ok i read the other posts about failed etests and i was just wanting some insight on my car cuz i just installed the apexi gt spec catback...also i had bought headers lastyear and just installed the new cat that came with it so my exhuast seems clean but im wondering if its because i had leaks before which caused my engine to carbon up a bit...im gonna try running hightest fuel and some injection cleaner perhaps pull the plugs most likely carboned up...but here are the numbers my car blew and i just want to see if there is somethin that could have caused this....
1997 civic si d16y8
ASM2525
. limit reading
hc ppm 75 137 fail
co% .42 1.27 fail
no ppm 576 388 pass
curb idle
hc ppm 200 271 fail
co% 1.00 .98 pass
o yea and my computer hasn't reset from the o2 sensor being disconnected yet and its fairly new . i unplugged the battery to reset but normally id just drive and wait for the engine to clear it itself

those numbers are still pretty bad for a mostly stock car. my 98 when it was stock ran 1/10th of the limit on everything.
yeah the leak you had could be a problem, but driving the car somewhat hard should clear that up in a few weeks. it seems like other things may be going on though, it might be best to get it checked out at a shop.

yea im gonna clean it up with some formula stuff and do the plugs and cap and see if that will help me ...i think it shud cuz having the leak made alot of carbon so it just needs to be cleaned i hope

Use sea foam to clean the carbon and build up out of your engine and exhaust, change plugs/ wires, use 3 125ml bottles of gas line anti freeze on a full tank and make sure you go for a good run before your test to get the car nice and warm. If you don't pass then it's time for a new cat/02 sensor. I just did my e test on my 89 beater and I followed theses steps and passed with flying colours. Gas line anti freeze is key. this is what my old mechanic swears up and down by. TRy it and see for yourself.

I PASSED!!!! i did a tune up but the main reason was the rubber gasket in the o2 sensor plugs was jamming a proper closure between the plugs therefore basically driving without an o2 sensor so its all fixed and im stickered
