Air Intake heat shield

I'm thinking of making a custom heat shield/air box for my air intake. I have my stock airbox removed and have rigged up some piping that feeds air up to where my air filter is (still in engine bay)so all I have to do now is shield my filter from the engine bay heat. Can anybody recomend a material that suits this application? (cabon fiber?)
Thanks.

Oh yeah, it's a cone style filter which is located next to the battery.

Why not extend the piping, knock the air box out and make it a CAI
You can get the 90 degree bending pipes anywhere like home depot to get it perfect and measure the diameter of the hole where the air box was so the pipe can fit threw and your all set.
As for the material, if you can get a plastic molded fitment for the size and aerodynamic of the cone then go for it (same material as ur air box)
