anyone know where I can get heat shield removed for free?

The heat shield on my 98 civic is rattling like crazy and is driving me nuts..Green and Ross wanted $40 to remove it and I told them to kiss my a**....does anyone know of a garage in midtown Toronto (Yorkdale area) that might just throw it up on a lift and rip it off for free (or a nominal charge)???

I tried to shimmy under the car to do it myself but I am just too fat!!
Thanks,

I would normally put it over the curb if there wasn't so much goddamn snow on the ground!!

I'm all of a sudden getting the rattle too.

For those who are mechanically inclined and have serviced the exhaust before, is this the shield covering the catalytic converter? If yes, did any of you break the hold-down bolt heads using a breaker bar, or should I definitely hit the bolts loose with an air gun?

I did a search on this topic FIRST rather than clutter the forum by making another post for a topic that's been addressed, so if you can't help or have no helpful input, that makes YOU the idiot. Where the hell are people's manners these days?

I used a large pair of tin snips. My upper shield was rusted off on two coners. It wasn't worth the time to deal with the rusted bolts.

Me too. They just burned the bolts off with a torch and didn't even charge me. The thread maybe old, but reviving it is much better then another new post.
