ls vtec?
Just wondering what you guys think about this swap, never really took a look at this one before, only got a d15z1, so i seriously need to upgrade soon, cuz u can only have so much fun with a single cam, just wondering what they usually run for, min. and max price kinda thing. Let me know guys, thanks.

LSvtecs are great, when built properly or boosted they can make amazing power. I've done a couple of 200whp n/a lsvtecs lately and a bone stock boosted one that made 315whp @ 11psi.
Going from a single cam will cost about as much as a normal GSR/ITR swap. This is b/c you'll need to buy a b18a/b engine and a DOHC VTEC either engine or just the cylinder head. You'll also need a b-series transmission, axles, shifter linkages, mounts and rad hoses. I would also recommend using the Golden Eagle LSvtec conversion kit along with some ARP/GE head studs. This would be to just build a stock LSvtec, which in the n/a world won't get you far. To build a decent n/a LSvtec you'll need some different pistons to raise the compression (b16 or ITR pistons work pretty good) and a set of some bigger cams along with all of the bolt-ons if you wanna make some nice power.

Ls/Vtec - get a set of ITR cams, b16 pistons...apr rod bolts...obd 1 chipped ecu tuned
you can get an ls block next to nothing(rec 1990-1993) send it out to get checked and honed...new seals ring and bearings basic things when you rebuild...
get a header, exhuast and intake...throttle body and I/M optional....make sure someone who knows what there doing builds and installs it...tired of people buildnig motor and then the wiring is ****ed and it never runs right then people say ls vtec is no good...

ya the wiring part isn't an issue, i've done a few diff. swaps, can pretty much get all the info on wiring conv. etc. and have it done myself. Let me know if you hear of any ls vtec's for sale. Need something within the month.

ya, whats wrong with it? Or is it literally JUST the engine and tranny, b/c if so, then thats not really that great of a deal as GSR engines go for about $800 and the trannys $500.
Is this a b18c1? Or the b17?
Swap parts from importers are JACKED UP and crazy expensive still and considering they don't really know the condition of the engine (despite what they tell you) you're always taking a chance buying a used engine from an importer (or just some guy off the forums too), but chances are if you get a crappy one from an importer they'll likely do something to help you out, if you get a junk engine from joe schmoe off the forums he'll likely tell you to pound salt, if he responds to you at all.

thats exactly why i source the appropriate parts and get my motors built. and to be honest, they always make much more power than jdm r spec swaps and ussually costs less....albeit with forged internals, better vt, cams & header
