scraping? rubbing? noise? help! =S
HELP! ..i have an ls motor and tranny in my civic..and ive noticed a scraping..rubbing noise in 2nd gear when i go through the neighborhood...at around 2500 to 4000 rpm when i let go of the gas it sounds like something is scraping or rubbing...or when i downshift at lower speeds and try to keep my rpms up it grinds/scrapes or rubs... i have no idea what it is..but i hope someone has an idea of what it could be... it sounds as if the tires were scraping the wells..but im not that low.
sorry if i cant explain it well but its hard to explain really =S help

Few possibilities:
Scraping backing plate
Bad wheel bearing
Metal on metal contact on the front brakes.
Either way, you should really get it checked out ASAP. If you are near Oakville, I can look at it for you.

Sounds like brakes... Jack it up, take a tire off (be sure to be able to use 80'lbs when torquing them on) and look at your rotors and pads.
If there's a semi chug, could be a warped rotor... Sounds like a worst case is a wheel bearing.
Brake pads have a metal strip on the outside of them, so when they wear down they will make noice alerting the driver of pad replacement. Another easier(not 100% acurate) test is your brake fluid level. You brake system is Hydrualic, so the piston in your calipers press down on you pads, making contact to your rotors, stopping your vehicle. When the piston push in, the hydraulic system moves the brake fluid to do this. If your pistons are pressed in far, it will look like your fluid is low, while in fact, it's not low, just needs the pistons resest(pads changed).
Remember to have the car in park/1st. wedge your tires correctly, unless taking the rear tire(s) off, use an e-brake too.
