electrical issue? not too sure.

hey,
i recently purchased this civic, it came with a compustar 2way alarm. everythying works fine, but i noticed something. i went to work today(this happened yesterday as well) and when i was finished work, i went to the car n pressed the button to unlock, but nothing happened...i pressed all buttons, no response, so i just opened the door with the key, the alarm did NOT go off...i got in the car, closed the door, and then pressed the lock button, and it worked...it's as if everything was shut off until i opened the door...and the settings on the radio(ie clock and radio station pre-sets) were all reset...

so yea...now...i have no idea what could have caused this...the alarm works perfectly fine otherwise...it's only happend today and yesterday while i was at work...

could it be that at work, i dont shut the engine off, i just leave it runnin, get out of the car n close the door, it auto-arms itself and is prepared for autostart. I've only done this at work(these two times) and this has happened...could leaving it on autostart have an ything to do with it? anybody ever have this problem with their alarm system?

i'm gonna test it out more, like try leaving it overnight on the "autostart" setting again to see if that is the cause...

hey, back with an update, it's been a few weeks since i opened this thread, and the problem has gotten much much worse...

when i walk to the car to unlock, it makes one beep noise instead of two cuz it shuts down again...i walk to the car n open with my key, nothing is on, the alarm is off, the dome light, nothing turns on...i put the key in the ignition..nothing...

i dont think it's the battery since the alarm eventually comes on after i do alot of things...

like i open the driver door, close it, doesn tdo anything? then i open the passenger and driver, close, pop hood, anything physical, and it eventually comes on...cuz the light turns on...then when i press the button to unlock, it shuts off again! today this happened for about 30 min until it finally unlocked n stayed on n let me turn the car on!

this is really worrying me...could it be a shock sensor? i dont know if it is...because i just keep opening n closing it...and from what i know, the compustar doesnt have hookups into the door, it is just linked into the car's sensor on the doors...

and is there a light on the cluster that tells you if a car door is open? i have a 98 Si bytheway...

i was thinkin of goin to an auto-car alarm installer, but i'd like to see if anyone's had this problem with their alarm...

i think Eric(callmesir) msged me n said he had this problem, but he said his was the autostart relay, he just replaced that, but all the relays are working fine, when the alarm is working, i unplugged the relays and everything still worked...so..i dont think it was that, all the alarm's fuses are fine, the wiring is fine...unless it could be faulty somewhere...but again the car eventually turns on when i close things n open things on the car...

any input would be greatly appreciated...if i cant figure out the problem, i guess i'll go to an intaller n ask them to chek it out, if they cant figure it out, i'll have the alarm disabled...liek left in there, but have the car hooked up to it's original state...this way i can juss try n trouble shoot it at another time but at least have the car to drive...

Check the connection at the battery is there any corrosion or is the battery terminal loose?

Could be anything, loose ground, bad brain, bad relay or it could be a bad install job. Take it to a compustar dealer and have them look at it.

i found out what the problem was...

it was a loose screw where the battery is connected/grounded to the fuse box...that loose screw was causing all this hassle haha
