when ever i park my car 4hr+, when i start it up........there's some weird sound coming from the hood/engine......

i heard some ppl said it's the valvue problem..

i'm not sure what sound is it....can somone help me out plz

after i wait my car for about 5mins, or until it's warm , the noise eventually will go away

i recorded the sound with my digi cam..

after 25secs or so i poped the hood n record the sound from there

btw my car is 96 civic ex, only installed SRI, everything else is stock

Valves. Ticking valves is what is sounds to me...Probably need a valve adjustment

does that occur everytime you start your car?
did it ever happened in the summer/fall time?
it might be coz its a cold start.... the engine is running rough?
i have something similar to that sound, but not as bad as yours.... and mine only happens on days too cold like below 0... these days above 0, it starts up fine....

It is the valves ticking. Get an adjustment, but you will still hear a bit of ticking on start up as the oil is moving to the top of the head.

I had mine done the last time at Defcon in Pickering (Brock Road/Bayley). RT Motorsport in Jane/Hwy 7 area, Leading Edge in 400/Hwy 7 area. Cost is usually $100 give or take a few.

i went to a shop, they told me that i need to leave my car overnight, and they will check it the next morning, which i dont want to do, cuz i need my car for work.....

so if i dont do the valve adjustment, will it damage engine?

it wouldn't do any damage on the engine but you'll be very annoyed with the sound

it will upset your air/fuel mix.. it affects your combustion and engien efficiency.. take it to defcon racing.. around $100 is a good deal.

Or if you want to drive to Oakville I can do it for you
