weird noise from side of car

I've got a weird knocking noise coming from the passenger side of my eg sedan. I know its not the doors, brakes, exhaust or the coilovers. You can hear it mostly when there is a shift in weight, like when shifting through the gears from a stop. It seems like its coming from under the car towards the outside. What could it be?

does the noise speed up with the car or is it just the same frequency no matter the speed.........If it stays the same, most likely its the exhaust touching the chassis....I have that same problem

It doesn't happen while turning, and it pretty much goes away during constant speed. I shook the exhaust and it doesn't seem loose.

Yeah thats the same with my car, especially when the revs come down btween 1st to 2nd...The exhaust doesnt have to be loose for this to happen, remember when the engine moves and causes the exhaust to vibrate, just during acceleration it vibrates more.... It could be worn motor mounts causing the engine to move more or it could just be exhaust work done and they set the pipes too close to the body.

My car started doing the same noise. It started two days ago with slight knocking noise whenever I slows down. After like driving the car again 2 times, the noise became worse. Like sillentkill says, the there is no noise at constant speed. In my case the noise happens whenever i press on the clutch and donshifts gear. So it's kinda like when slowing down. It's ok when just starting to run the car no noise or anything. I thought it was the exhaust pipe too but my GF's brother says it could be axle or ball joint or the tranny so he wasn't sure. He advise we change the axle and if the noise still there do change the balljoint and if it still there teh tranny.....I was like WTF I don't want to spend a fortune if I will replace the ones not broken. So yeah I guess I will double check the exhaust pipe again tomorrow before buying anything. But if anyones got a solution I will appreciate the help.

Oh yeah the noise of mine sounds like someone is knocking hard just below the clutch pedal. How do I tighten the engine mounts anyways...do I need to lift the engine or just turn that bolts there?

thanks
