Car dead, Clicking Noise When Trying To Start
I have a 1996 Civic Si with d16y8. Took it to the gas station tonight, everything was fine. I parked it in front of the house and went out to the car later and when I tried to start the car nothing happened but a single "click" noise. The lights are working and so is the power windows. We tried to boost it just incase but still nothing happened but the "click". We suspect its the distributor or the starter, but unsure how to diagnose which it is. This problem happened all of a sudden. Were looking for some advice

why do 'we' suspect the distributor? does 'we' even know what a distributor does?
tap the starter with a hammer (TAP IT, not smash it) and try again. failing that, make sure the car is IN NEUTRAL, and bypass the ignition - go straight from the battery to the starter. remember the car must be in neutral, this method if it works would start the car and run you over if you leave it in gear and the key in the ignition. if it doesn't work when you jump the starter directly, then it's the starter. if it does work, you have other electrical issues, most likely a bad ground.
