ticking noise

Hi, I have a question, I just purchased a 92 honda civic.

And, on this car, it ticks after I turn it off.

When I drive BMWs/Benzes they always tick after I turn it off, but I've never heard it on my other Honda, or any of my freinds Hondas, or any other lower end cars.

Can someone tell me why it ticks when I turn it off? Is something wrong?

Thanks.

I have no idea what the difference between the 2 sounds you're describing is. Just a ticking you hear normally from BMWs and Benzes. I honestly have never heard it on a civic before or any car other than BMW/Benz.

And if by good hot drive you mean driving it hard, then no, it wasn't from that... I rarely shift over 2.5 on the civic...

but like u hear it after u get out the car...and its like tick....tick...tick....thats normal on any car especially after a longer drive or the engine is hot....I dont know really what it is but all cars make that noise...usually its the larger engine cars that do it like v6, 5cyl inline 6 etc....but my accord does it in the summer and my civics have done it a couple times but audis etc always did it

Yeah I hear it after I get out. Just fast ticking. That I guess slows down eventually.

And yeah like I said I've heard it on other cars, but never on a low end car. I had another honda that never did this. I have a 240 that never did this. My freinds have Hondas, Neons, Saabs, etc and I have never heard them tick so I was rather surpised that this one did you know ?

It always does it btw.

BTW this sounds kinda gay but I like your username.

ticking i think is the collant dripping into the block cooling down the engine.

LOL at CoreyR

the ticking noise is usually the catalytic converter cooling off.... it should be normal for any car.

Are you sure you don't have a bomb in your car? I'd get that checked out
