port and polish

hey what do u guys think about port and polishing an Ls engine. How much more power would it give me and how reliable would it be?

reliability is not an issue. it will give a slight increase in power through out the power curve but a port and polish really works with bigger cams or perhaps forced induction, that's when a P&P really makes a difference

oh really, I heard that it would increase my quarter mile by a noticeable difference.

You need to decide if you're staying NA or going FI (and if you're going FI, what type? Turbo, Super, N2O)... the machine shop will port and polish the head according to your needs. For example, if you were going turbo, they would work your exhaust ports a little more to promote greater flow on the exhaust side which the Turbo feeds off of...
