Please help I need some answers

I am having a problem off and on when my car is in 2nd or 3rd gear around 2500-3000rpm. It feels somewhat like its bogging down and when you press on the gas it does nothing. When I gear down the problem is gone. It doesn't happen all/everytime but it does happen every day.

I changed plugs in the spring
I changed plug wires Friday.

Please help...any insight would be greatly apprecieated.

It is a pretty common thing, our engines like higher revs. But you might want t otry cleaning your throttle body as well.

Also if you have an intake you might want to replace or clean the filter

also check the distributor cap and rotor. And try replacing the fuel filter.
Random bogging/misfire problems are kind of hard to diagnose.

after a good tuneup and service (including all ignition parts, filters, fluids, and Seafoam cleaning, check of base timing) if the problem persists, I would suggest it may be an ignitor problem which in your case means getting a new distributor.

thanks bbarbulo, i'm going to change my fuel filter and try seafoam. Do you recommend it for and engine that has 230K?. Its wierd that it only happens between 2500-3000rpm. Just tossin the idea out there but could it be fuel pump?

honestly I've never seen a bad pump on a Civic.

seafoam is fine on any engine regardless of miles.... just use it wisely.... don't use too much of it. it's better to do it more often than to do too much in one shot.

2500-3000 rpm is a high load range most of the time. that's why I lean to a bad distributor.

yeah that and b/c honda distributors kinda suck. I know lots of people who've had to replace the distributor, especially b/c the bearing siezed on them.
