Help! I need some answers!!!!

I have a bit of a problem, or so I think. I own a 92 civic h/b and recently after driving for about 10-15 minutes my engine temp. gauge goes almost to the top and then falls again and keeps doing this all the way to my destination. Usually when I drive the needle is almost at half way. I've even tried driving with the heat on and nothing seems to help. Any suggestions of what this might be???? Thanks!

Check coolant level. Is the radiator fan coming on when the temp rises? If not, could be the fan switch. Could also be thermostat stuck in the closed position. Get it fixed asap, driving in the red zone can cause alot more costly problems. I'm surprised the heat on didn't help, thats what I did when my fan switch died.

temp sensor or themostat.. or coolant level .... if the thermostat is faulty and not opening at the right temperature it'll let the engine get too hot ....

but yes check the easy stuff first and thats coolant...

also if you have to refil the system make sure you do it properly and purge the air out of the system... (there is a bleeder screw for that)

if you need help I'm willing to give you a hand this weekend.

1. Check coolant level
2. Check for coolant leak (internal & external)
3. Have rad cap tested
4. Have coolant temperature rating tested
5. Have cooling system pressure tested
