Idle Prob...
Ok.. I posted a long time ago that my car has a bad idol.. It still has it but I'm really not sure what to make of it...
I was reading the manual and it says that the car should only be run on 91 Octane.. Does it really matter if you run on 87 or 81?? Could that be the problem??
My old shop teacher said a cylinder is dying.. whuich is weird because when I unplug the #1 it runs fine... when I plug it back in it idols bad.. But their is no smoke or anything...
Some say Vac. leak but I checked everything.. Their is nothing going on in their..
Some say TPS sensor.. but I would need to replace the whole intake for that but I am noit sure if that is the problem.. When I unplug it the car runs fine.. It idle's at like 2k and the engin light comes on though...
I don't know.. I am at my witts end with this motor.. The clutch needs to be done so what.. Should I just rebuild the motor while I do the clutch.. or just sell the POS right now and go for something newer?

whether you sell it or fix it depends on how bad the rust is. if you don't know what you're doing with cars, then it's usually cheaper to own a newer car than throwing money at a problem that you're not really sure how to solve. but if the car is otherwise in good shape, take it to a good shop and have then fix it. (trust me, it'll be cheaper than guessing)
in your post you don't even say if it idles high or low, steady or bouncing around? cold engine or hot engine, or all the time??

it's an 88 Hatch special edition. and I have enough know how on cars to do it.. The body.. Well.. normal civic rust.. most of the under body was covered in like an inch of rust proofer so its all still good.. the rear bumper on the other hand.. The skin is about to fall off because it is rusted so bad.. In the rear bumper bolted on.. or is it part of the frame?

why would you need to replace the whole intake to replace the TPS? It just screws on to the throttle body.
Well, without details i would suggest checking the idle air control valve on the back of the intake manifold. Check the fast idle thermo valve on the bottom of the throttle body (inside there is a little white peice that is threaded into the body of the FTIV this peice sometimes backs out and causes a high idle). Check the voltage at the TPS (should be .5V closed throttle and 4.5V at WOT).
