SPEeDO PRoB

My km guage on the cluster sometimes works when im at high speeds or will suddenly work if i have been driving for a while. But most of the time the needle jumps up and down and give me a reading that is obviously not right. once and a while i would hear eleterical noises comming form the cluster. what could be the problem? Do i need to replace the cluster or the cable?

thanks for the help

I'd try popping the cluster out of the dash and check all the connections in behind to make sure nothing has come loose.

Or you could also check the speed sensor.

i had took the cluster out and cleaned all the terminals.. but still nothing.. i was told that sometimes the bearings on the speedo cable cable need to be lubricated?

you have a vehicle speed sensor in the top of the tranny which sends a signal back....so its either your VSS or the cluster

I had one like that.. I thnk it happens to a lot of eg clusters... I suggest replacing it with a Si cluster if you don t already have one.

but i noticed that a few times some lights on the cluster would blow out and come back on... i have a strong feeling its the cluster itself... but i dont want to buy the cluster when the problem is something else.
