if you want to squeeze the most out of vtec, get a vtec controller and set your vtec to kick at 2000rpm
haha, this reminds me of a guy around this board sometime before who said he got a vtec controller and he can turn on vtec anytime he wants... then we all flame at him so bad... haha
because that guy was so stupid, he would vtec from launch which is useless and obviously that guy has ZERO knowledge about how an engine works and how vtec operates... ahhaha

but i get what you mean, if you wanna experience the "most" vtec, if you set it at 2000rpm, you can experience the most vtec from 2000 all da way 8000... ahhaha... (i think your statement was meant to be a joke, right?) ahhahahahaha

All they say is true, I would either work on some appearance and just maintenance, or if you wanan spend alot go performance.

7th gen's stock motors blow for modding. As mentionned, if you keep the D17, boost it, but don't expect amazing results. But for the price of boosting you'll be like 2/3 to a K-series swap.

You can always go K20A3 (RSX base motor) for a good 30hp increase and much more torque, and they're relatively cheap. ~1500$.

tuning is a pain in 7 gens. Not too many people boost it for a reason

you may be able to come across a rsx motor for cheep but how much is it to install it? starting from a d17? I gots an 01 civic si, and have been considering a swap even if it is just a rsx base motor.

It can be anywhere from 500-1500 for labour and you'd need about another 1000 for mounts, axles, etc. What alot of people do though when they swap a K is they do a 5 lug swap at the same time. Esitmated $$ may be a little high because stuff always costs more when you actually do it (Error, broken stuff, etc).

If you just get a K20A3 and swap it in you're looking at when all is said and done you're looking at 2500-3500. It could easily cost less and could easily cost more.
