maybe i shouldn't ruin your fun...
but there's not much to squeeze out of a sohc vtec... seriously... =(

chris_si98 03-Jul-2006 08:42 PM

you can't hear it scream because its a single cam.

wow so much positive feedback

but some of them speak truth... sohc vtec the most you'll ever get (unless you boost it) is the ability to hear it scream... you won't feel anything, but it'll get louder alright...

rjngo 04-Jul-2006 10:55 AM

be a paid member and enjoy the discounts some affiliates offer...get some parts and even a new engine...then you'll see some gains:D

imported_SilverSleeper 04-Jul-2006 11:01 AM

Eh. Listen to this positive feedback eh?

Due to the lack of aftermarket support and that horrible down draft style manifold on D17, your only options for more power are either Boost or K Swap. Any other mods will make it louder not faster.

my sohc vtec screaams, but it doesnt go anywhere.

if you want to squeeze the most out of vtec, get a vtec controller and set your vtec to kick at 2000rpm

vtec killer cams=P

All the guy asked was how to get the most out of vtec, not what should I do to it to make 200 HP... sheesh.

Best bet is to do the standard bolt ons - intake header and exhaust, this will give you noise, but really not much more power. On a Civic, you best bet in increasing the fun factor of your car is to upgrade your suspension parts (the 2002 had problems in suspension anyway).

Changing your vtec engagement to 2000 rpm is NEVER a good idea for so many reasons (I don't feel like listing them).
