Believe it or not, the car lost 6-7 hp

Higher octane fuel will burn slightly slower than a lower octane fuel. You will need a change in ignition timing. Using more octane than you need will not increase power, however the slower burn rate will actually decrease power.

I swear by Shell 92 octane -- love Easy Pay and Air Miles, too
However, I was convinced to try Sunoco's 94 octane. Filled it up halfway (less weight!!!) twice now. The car has never run worse. I am so disapopointed. Was looking for that extra 'something'. Nothing. Just engine noise that may be a coincidenece, or a problem with 94/ignition. Now, there are 220Ks on the ol' Vtec. From what I am reading, it may prove a detriment to use such a high octane. I am filling up with Shell 92 before the meet tonight. After two tanks, I'll report back with my findings.

In my Greddy Turbo manual there was a little note "Fill up with min. 92 octane"... I use Sunoco 94 ALWAYS!!! And every 3rd to 4th fillup I put in the 7 point octane booster by NOS.... I love it every time I put in the octane booster I get a "theoretical" 101 octane level and I do notice how smoother, quieter and MUCH more responsive the engine is..... But then it could just be a placebo affect.... Damn these placebo's gettin expensive!!!!
