Too much gasoline?

Ok dudes... I was at the gas pump yesterday.. and I was admiring an orange Nissan 350Z and I was gasing up really slow.. I mean really slow.. So slow that it took me like 10 mins to fill up my gas tank...

However.. due to the fact that the gasing up process was so slow.. the pump never clicked when I was full so about 2 liters actually spilled over the side of my rear fender and under my car.

So ... my gas tank is 100% full to the brim..... Does that damage the car? Man.. I'm clumsy...

Will this actually hurt the engine? Damage it? Cause a performance hit (not like I'm looking to drive performance.. but due to the fact that there is NO air in the tank.. there is no pressure.. is that ok???

Gas is really bad for your paint.

A neet trick i learned is that after you're done gassing up, tap the nozzle, then turn the nozzle upwards so it doesn't drip on your paint.

some pumps that always doesn't work.. (the momentum of moving the nozzle away from the gas cap causes the left over to spill)

so now i do what sam says, and also use my gas cap to "carry" any leftovers out.

i spilled some gas on my paint the last time i filled up too. never had time to really wash it off other than wiping it off at the station. now there's this funny haze on it...f*ck...i guess i'm gonna have to try some paint cleaner/polish on that area.

trick i use to use on my bike was to fill tank/pull nozzle almost all the way out and lift up leaving the end of the spout in..then drop it back down and pull nozzle out raising the end of the nozzle as you go..
i've never once got a drip on my bike or my car..

Even better idea!

We don't drive at all! We'll never have to fill up.. and ultimately.. NEVER SPILL ON OUR PAINT! rotfl

Beware:

One day last year I was at a Sunoco to get gas and when I went to put the nozzle in the filler, gas poured out of it and down the side of my car. I was pissed. I immediately went inside the kiosk to complain and the attendant said that the gas expands when it gets hot. So, I told her that they should have a warning sign about it.

Thats why I always turn the nozzle upside down (towards the ground) when I take it off the pump, before I put it in my gas tank. As well, a lot of the newer cars (my EL included) have a little lip on fuel filler that helps stop those last few drops from spilling on the car when you remove the nozzle from the tank.

Here's another good tip that my buddy uses on his car so he doesn't get gas on the paint:
Once you put the nozzle in the tank, place some paper towel under neithe the nozzle and when you pull the nozzle out use the paper towel to catch any little dips that come out then toss the paper towel.
