clutch problems
So heres my problem:
If i don't use my clutch for a period of time, say overnight, when i step on the clutch the next morning, there'd be no pressure at all... the clutch pedal will drop to the ground and stay there.
If I then manually pump the clutch pedal by hand, pressure will return after 5 min or so of pumping. This also happens sometimes if I drive on the highway for long distances and don't use the clutch pedal... kinda annoying when i get off the highway and can't put the car into first.
Anyone might know whats wrong?
Maybe my master cylinder needs replacing?
And.. dumb question.. are the clutch master cylinder and brake master cylinder 2 different parts?
thanks

Hey
Its the Slave Cylinder that's causing you problems. There's probably a leak in it somewhere so you will have to have that replaced and while your at it flush the clutch fluid. Yes there the master and slave cylinder are two different parts.

ok.. it just died completely yesterday... no pressure in clutch at all.. even pumping it didn't help.. will probably get it towed today or tomorrow to my mechanic
when I talked to my mechanic, he said it was the master cylinder that was at fault... but everybody here says slave...
is there any way to be certain?
Thanks!

but if he charges me for a clutch master cylinder... that'd be $140 whereas a slave cylinder costs $50-60
from what i gather, theres a master cylinder for brake and a separate one for the clutch actually
