Car wont start...

so ah...winter is over now..and my car has been parked. Now comes the time where I must start it, and it wont start. Instead, it makes this crazy *** screeching noise...and will not turn over.

Any reasons as to why this is doing? Any Ideas what I should do?

I gave it an oil change before I parked it, filled up the tank and so on...so ya...Im confused.

Sounds like your starter is stuck.
Try rolling the car up a couple of feet and try again.
OR bang on your starter with smoething..

Just don't hit it tooo hard, you'll break the starter casing and then you are screwed..

Atleast you figured it out..

You should keep the E Brake released if the car is stored. The alternator is just bad luck..

Yeah, Im an idiot for keeping the e-brake on. I had a feeling that would happen, but it was parked on a driveway that sloped down at the end and was just a lil nervous. Oh well...

Thanks for the input

try caking the alternator with WD40 and manually turning the pulley with a ratchet. This sometimes works to free up the seized alternator as an alternative to purchasing a new one.
You really need to use A LOT of wd40 for this to work though, spray it in every nook and cranny on the alt, don't be scared to get it anywhere it shouldn't be.

well it was a mid eighties prelude, one of my winter beaters. it was only a matter of time before the alternator gave out anyways. had it rebuilt for $40 and it lasted for 2 winters.

Ah nice, thats not bad...40 bucks. Sweet.

MY uncle left his 88 lude sit for one winter, brakes seized, alternator, car wouldn't start nothing. Hes the worst though because he never did anything to preserve it. haha..Oh well his choice
