clicking noise?

Hey, I brought my car by my boys house, and he's saying that some of my lifters may need adjusting. When I press the gas, pretty much between 2.5 and 3.5 rpm I'm hearing like a rattling, or clicking noise. Can this be fixed? do i need a new head? if so, where can I get one and how much?

I have a 2000 Si sohc d16y8 (i believe?)

Someone? anyone? your suggestions are greatly appreciated...

does your exhaust rattle? usually you can tell if you need a valve adjustment at idle, not while driving.

actually it's more like a knocking sound........When I'm pressing the gas between that rpm, it knocks, but when i take my foot off the gas it stops.......

hmmmmmm i see............ well i'm at 191 K's, and I put Royal Purple synth oil 5W30
If by chance it is the bottom end bearing, does that mean it's a lost cause? new engine?
But if it's the valve adjustment, is that hard? approx price?

value adjustment at honda is a 1 hour jod about $100.00 but most any tech can do one.

ya if the bottom is **** up just get a new motor, most place's are look to get about
$500 buck for a d16. don't get a older one look for a USDM out of a 00 or a JDM at lest a 98 up ( the year is staped in the head )

or go big with a b16 or a b18

I'd have to hear it to determine what it is.

Doesnt sound like a valve adjustment though. BTW you dont have lifters.

lol, believe me, I would love to go b16, but a brother is trying to save up for a ring for the lady.......... as far as i know, to do a swap from d16 to b16, I'll be looking at at least $2,500. engine, tranny, shift linkage, engine mounts + labour. (to name a few)

I would hope it's just a valve adj job, cuz i really would like to swap to b16 next year

Hey Chris, whereabouts are you located? i wonder if you could take a look at it?
