Sounds like your CV joint. Check to see if the boot is ripped.

just replaced mine both sides 90$each +core(90$) had the same problem but very crunchy! To avoid the noise, clutch it around corners, then gas on again or pound the subs, that works too

if its making that noise its probably been like that for awhile. I've had both cv joints ripped before many times one side lasted a few months before it even started with the noise.... strange enough as i was going into the shop to get a new drive shaft and the damn thing broke... lol....my cars lowered and where i park my car its pretty rough in the winter so i find my boots get a nice ripping here and there... so i try to check them often and get it fixed before too much damage can be done to the drive shaft.

i just replaced my axle today, which was a smart choice, i was going to replace the cv boot only until the bearings were shot...

I replaced both my axles on my 97 civic (266 000 km) on them

one was gone, the other would have lasted a bit longer, but whats the point of wasting another day without a car. I got both done.
