Argh, banged my wheel on the curb sideways!@$!
Hi guys!
It was snowing and definitely icy here in Waterloo today. As I was getting home, I was slowing down and trying to turn right into the parking lot of my apartment. But it turns out there was a big patch of solid ice there! I was actually going very slow at the time already (about 15km/h?), but the car wouldn't stop cuz I was on a patch of solid ice!! So it went on skidding, tires locked up, and my tail went sideways swinging to the right. This all happened very slowly, like in slow motion, but I couldn't do anything to help it cuz the car's on pure ice. I was like "ahhhhh... sh**********t..." By the way, I had winter tires already.
So what happened was my right rear wheel eventually went sideway against the curb, and the car bounced back (again, slow motion!) and eventually came to a stop.
Even though the wheel didn't bang the curb very hard, I'm a little concern as to whether any damage might've happened. Anybody got any insight into this? By the way, I just put in a lower rear tie bar yesterday... I wonder if it would help transfer the force of impact to the other side? Heheh... Thanks guys.
