17" tire sizing question

I am looking at getting a set of 17" wheels sometime soon, and I was wondering what size tires I should be using. My car is a '98 Si with H&R Sport Springs. I know that a 205/40 will fit, but will a 215/40 fit without rubbing?
Thanks.Mike

with 215's you will be rubbing the fender lining on the front while you turn, annoying sound!

and the rears' will hit the fender lip, so if you go over a bump, you definately will be hitting the lip instead of getting tucked in

i had 215/40/17's, i know, and i was on OE sport springs, 0.75" drop

I think 205 is the biggest you can go, depending on the offset of your rim, i have 205's and they just tuck perfectly, another 5 mm and i'd be rubbing and stuff, i dunno about on the inside but i know on the outside, again depends on your offset

Silver do you know what the offset is on your wheels? The guy had them on an SiR, so I guess they should fit fine on my car.
Thanks guys.Mike

Have 17" on my '96 hatch, 205s are the biggest you can go w/out the wheels rubbing the fender.

Mike what happened to the SiR??? I saw a 99 on the lot today and began to wonder if it was the one you were supposed to buy.

Back on topic: 205/40/17 is my recommendation.

What tire size should be used with 18"? For a 98 civic Si that is. I would assume the back fender lip lining's gotta go?
