see this is the thing, im gettin different answers from everybody. dudes are tellin me go wit a k and then dudes tellin me go wit a turbo. i got the turbo alot, being that the d17 can handle the turbo, as long as i aint tryin to run 18 psi. all im worried about wit the turbo is cops. but the k is a wicked idea being that its dual over head cam

Well I don't know d17's well but I'm quite sure turbo d17 would be faster than a stock k swap and for much cheaper. I would suggest going with a smaller trim turbo so it would spool faster. You don't need anything outragious. A gt28r or t3/t4 .50ar would be just fine. Only thing is as far as I know t3/t4 are only oil no water cooling while the gt28 has. Water and oil which helps extend the life of the turbo. Also in the end it all comes down to a good tune. Don't cheap out on this, you can have the best parts but with a crappy tune you will blow everything up. GL and I hope this helped a bit.

Oh and also forgot to add, make sure you do a compression and a leak down test to make sure that everything is in proper running order. If you buy all the parts and then find out that one cyl is loosing compression, you will have problems with the running the turbo.

heres how I look at it,

K-swap = $5, 000- $8,000 Hp- 160-170 hp. From my buddies whose done the swaps.

Turbo= $4,000-$10,000 i guess HP- from 150-300. Yes, I say 300HP from a dinky D17 because I know its been done.

18 psi is way too much for d17 stock internals. I have d17 boosted at 8 psi what's your whp goals ? and start deciding from what turbo size you wanna get

You can piece together a turbo kit quite cheap. Then depending on whether you are capable of intalling it yourself or not. with good tune that shouldn't be any more than 4000$. Now I don't know how are the internals of a d17 and how well they hold up under boost, but either way it will be faster than k swap and cheaper. Also civc12 what turbo are you running? Because 8psi that's just a number. 8psi from a small t25 turbo is compleatly different than 8psi from a t66. That's just an example but you cannot say how much psi is safe for motor without knowing the turbo size. OP wait for zeeman or Chris_v2 to chime in and give you some good advice.

oh yey I forgot to put my setup.. t25 is mine spools up really fast... stress14 you can put T3/T4 Turbo on d17 safely on engine if you have higher hp goals at 6-8 psi on stock internals done proven and reliable as long as you have a good tune..
