take the vtec solenoid off, and clean it. there is a filter in there.
or
check your oil level, since vtec is engaged by oil pressure, you may not have enough.

i found the problem. there is a wire disconnected from a plug that connects to the solenoid. i dont understand how it got like that because everything was fine but it looks like it was cut. hopefully after putting it back the cel will disappear. i just need to figure out how to reconnect the wire and the plug.

Solder the wires together, then you will have to clear the ECU of the code. Remove the radio back up fuse for about 30 sec then replace it and you should be good to go. The fuse is in the fuse box beside your battery.

Maybe go to the wreckers and see if you can find a a vtec motor and just take the plug with some wire, then you can connect it to yours.

maybe you sent a short down to the ecu with your wiring job. put a nice burn hole into it.

if he did short out his ecu 20 seconds (assuming he LITERALLY meant 20 seconds) is way too long

i was talkin to him his wiring is fine (according to him but it wasnt anything too difficult)

Was it the wire to the VTEC selinoid? How do you connect it without the plug? There might be something else up with your car because that wire shouldn't affect the ability for your car to start, just the ability for VTEC to work. Does it look like anything else might be disconnected?

the wire was from the harness to the solenoid. i assume theres a plug juss so wen u need to change it u juss unplug from the harness n plug the new one in. i dont think the 2 problems are related. but im going to take a good look now as i need to go somewhere today and am not lookin to bum a ride off ne1. so if ne1 has ne ideas of wat it may be i would greatly appriciate it.

It might be time to take it in and have someone take a look at it. Send Chris_V2 a PM, he'll be able to help you out for sure.
