2005 Civic CEL comes and goes

Alright so I have a 2005 Honda Civic SE 5Spd purchased with 72K and now at 95K.

The last few weeks the check engline light has been coming on for approx 4 days and stays solid and then goes off by itself for another week or so. This cycle has repeateed itself 3 times now

I checked the gas cap as I really thought that woudl be it. I'm not noticing any decrease in performance or increase in gas mileage.

I'm so frusturated because I'm busy for exams and didn't have time to go for a check at a shop BUT the day i wanted to the light went off. The lights solid again today and such everything is closed.

Crappy tire has the ODB 2 scanner for 99 bux as of today so i'm buying it tomorrow.

But I was just looking for some insight into this as I've never had this situation with any othe the past cars I've owned. ALmost always the light stayed on until I reset it or fixed the problem.

Thanks,

The PCM will stored the code for many cycles, even if the light is off. Just go to a shop, or go to parts source, get it scanned for free. PM or post the code up and I'll tell you what to replace.

Here are screen shots of the codes....Both showing the same thing....although they are dtc 1 and dtc 2 respectively.....Both are:

P0139
02 circuit slow
response (bank 1, sensor 2)

Am I correct to assume this falls under the 7 year emmisions warranty honda has to give ? Thats what i'm understanding from reading the pamhplet I got with the car.....

o2 are 3 years 60k warranty.

I figured it'd be an O2 code or an EGR code anyways, that's the only codes they really throw.

Replace your rear oxygen sensor (behind the cat.). If you want, I can do this for you.

If it was my car, I'd personally replace both, because the primary o2 is going to fail soon anyway.

ya i'm placing a large rock auto order this week for the family cars...the 99 civic needs a full tune up.

Thanks for the offer but your in the GTA but I am more than comfortable doing this myself.

The only things i'm not confident / afraid to do is timing belts and exhaust work then I'd bring it to you or another shop.

The 1999 Civic if you'd like to provide a quote needs:

either rear or left auto tranny mount....haven't fully diagnosed it yet but its shaking like mad in reverse and slightly less severe on idle and smooth when driving.

I think needs rear/shoes drums done too thats another thing I pay to do I hate it.
