97 Civic DX rough idle

Hey guys.

The past couple days I have noticed a rough idle in my car. It doesnt happen all of the time but when it does it feels like a misfire.
One thing I have also noticed is that it will only happen when I am at a stop, with the clutch in, and only very noticeable while in first gear. As soon as i shift back into neutral with clutch in, it will stop.

If anyone has any ideas on what would cause this that would be great. Thanks in advance.

spark plugs, spark plug wires, air filter, pcv valve, distributor cap and rotor, fuel filter......that kind of stuff.

You should bring it by the shop for zeeman or myself to take a peak at it. We'll tell you exactly what it needs.

I understand how that tune up stuff would cause the same issues, but I was out with it tonight and it was idling very rough while stopped at a light in first gear and clutch in. As soon as I moved the shifter into neutral, the idle smoothed right out to normal.
I cant see how plugs or fuel filter would be the cause if it stops once its in neutral.

Anyone have any ideas?

and you think having the clutch out and being in neutral would effect the idle?

describe what you mean as rough?

does the idle speed jump up and down when your stopped?

does the engine seem like its misfiring?

i'd at least pull a plug out too see what it looks like, a spark plugs appearance and condition will tell you a lot about how your engine is running.

Well I know the clutch is somehow affecting it because whenever I stop at a light I have the clutch in and in first gear. When I notice the rough idle I shift into neutral with the clutch still in and it stops.

The idle speed does not rev up and down.
By rough idle it feels like a really bad misfire but I dont understand how throwing it into neutral would have an effect on spark plugs or something of the firing.

I will however take a look at the plugs.
