Phones w/ internal GPS

if you really want a reliable gps...dont rely on the phone version. get a standalone unit which will always be fast and reliable. i think the manufacturers just try to jam it as a selling feature and high level...it does work too but can not provide what a real GPS can.
on a smilar note...if i fly over to europe...will a phone gps will pick up my location instantly like a standard gps would?

im using a n95-3 with tom tom
ive cracked the voice navigaition.
it takes around 8-15 seconds from startup to locate the satelite.
it works flawlessly.
never had any charges because i turned off a-gps.
i just update maps at home with wifi.

Yea I got the garmin sat's on my bb using telus navigator.
Turn by turn navigation just like one you would buy.
Tells me when to turn right or left and if I take a wrong turn it recalculates the route.
I can search restaurants, bars, gas stations, and etc just the same

I got a nokia n82. I'll agree that a normal stand alone GPS unit does work better. It picks up the signal faster.
I have garmin xt GPS software on my phone. Once the signal locks, its solid from there. Its got all the POI's I need, (restaurants, gas stations, bars, etc..)
I think when it comes down to GPS units on phones. Only 2 things are important. How good the signal locks on/ and how fast it locks on. The software itself is also important. Imo garmin has the best software.
Yes you can use garmin xt software in europe, as long as you load the maps on. Its just like any other GPS. If you don't have the maps, then you can't use it, and vice versa.
The n82 isn't the nicest phone, but function wise its a fantastic phone.
