depends on the phone (for the cost) probably around 30, pacific mall is a good place to start....I bought a kit to do my SE for 25$ on ebay, worked perfect, and unbranded it also...

tons of ressources for cell phones, unlocking codes, ringtones, secret codes, whole bunch of stuff... Some phones just need a code to it, i did mine last year by simply pressing numbers on the phone.

Depending on the phone and its Rev #, you may need a data cable, but take a look with your phone model and theres detailed explaination on how to use it and what software to use if you need.
