What Motor Oil brand do you use ?
#22
Amsoil invented synthetic oil (some guy named amatuzio). It was primarily used for jets and aircraft back in the WW2 era. Sythetic oil really does work as far as protecting and saving your engine in the long run.
I was at canadian tire yesterday and I saw that Lucas Oil has thier own Sythetic oil. Any seen this before and anyone tried it?
Castrol has the new Castrol Egde. More expensive than thier regular sythetic. I thought it was just a bunch of marketing bs but a customer bought one for his car, 5w30 and it felt thicker and it seems slicker, hard to tell really, but who knows.
anyways, either amsoil, castrol for my car.
Btw, be careful of the supertech and other cheap sythetics cause most of them are recycled oil YO!

Don't really have to worry so much about the specific weight of motor oils these days. You'll notice there are much less choices between oil weights these days then there were years ago. Synthetics and even regular oils are so much better then they used to be that you can use them for a much wider temperature range the before, and for longer periods of time/mileage.
You do not need to change full synthetic oil every 5k. It's a waste and not necessary. The reason people still change it that often is that they are stuck in the old ways and unconvinced it does a better job and doesn't need to be changed as often. If they want to use synthetic and change it every 5k, then so be it. Their money.
The fact is oil has advanced just as technology has. Times are changing. It's not 1960...lol
