Question What Motor Oil brand do you use ?

I got an oil change today on my civic.. so why not start a poll thread about oil ? LoL
I'm using Amsoil 10w40 synthetic in the '91 civic. Overkill ? Maybe...
Been using Castrol 5w30 in my '90 crx, but thinking of switching over to Amsoil.

What oil do you use ?

What, you dont use some uber rare, JDM, all-original, $100 a bottle oil?

I have used Amsoil in the past, but it can be hard to find and expensive. Now I buy the big juggs of Mobile 1 when its on sale at Walmart. Between the 2 brands, I havent noticed any difference in the way my Si performs or its fuel economy.

quaker state, castrol or valvoline 10w40 conventional oil for my turbo b16

whichever one is on sale at crappy tire. They usually have 1 of the 3 listed on sale every couple of months, so when its on sale i'll go grab some, whether the car needs an oil change or not.

I run Mobil 1 synthetic in my cars. Can I still run synthetic in the boosted car or should I stick with conventional.

Doesn't matter. As long as you change it regularly, either will work fine.

^ But you can't switch back and forth, right?

Yes you can. I have no idea where people keep getting that information from.

You can use reg or synthetic. You can switch between them and even mix them. It doesn't matter.

Just make sure you change the oil and filter regularly and you will have nothing to worry about.

synthetic for sure, it resists heat breakdown and the resulting coking of the turbo bearing

Synthetic is better then regular. It's all I use.

But was trying to avoid starting another regular vs synthetic argument thread... :P

i just run synthetic oil from costco. It's cheap $38 for a change/filter. I can't do it cheaper myself for that price.

For me, the extra few $ it costs me to do it myself is worth the peace of mind knowing it was done properly.

AMSOIL all the way. Not just because I'm a distributor, but because AMSOIL is the best you can get for these cars. Especially if you are racing around in them.
