Lexus Hybrid
Lexus is coming out with the first Luxary Hybrid car. It will be available for sale in late 2004.
I'm gonna be first in line to pick one of those up. A luxary car that is cheap on gas?! Damn!

What if it looks ugly though?......will u still pick it up........like the Honda Insight i think it'z called......GROSS.....what if it looked like that with the back wheels covered halfway or something stupid like that?........
but then again it is Lexus.......lol so who knows.....i think they are smart enough not to do something dumb to affect the appereance of their cars.

ya the honda insight ain't too attractive, and especially the price honda sells it for, I don't know anyone who would pay that much money for it. I kinda like the back wheels being covered, looks kinda pimp, but really only belongs on lincons n caddys.

I figure that Lexus never came out with a car that's ugly IMO... so I doubt they'll make an ugly one now.
I'd be the first person in line for one of those Hybrids if it looked like the car in the Minority Report.
Sexy car.

My friend owns the Civic Hybrid and seriously.. the torque may be nicer than a lot of other similar compact cars.. but after about 3000 rpm... the power just drops off and it's not even worth revving up there.
It does zero to 100 in about 15 seconds (literally)... and passing at highway speeds takes some thought since pickup at higher revs is almost non-existant. We had 3 people in the car and flooring it on the highway doesn't do too much. It almost felt as if I could get out and push the car up to passing speed faster than the engine was pulling it.

Kent,
What do you mean "No"? The Lexus hybrid is based on the RX 330. That's the only one they have been saying they will have for 2004 at least. It will have a V-6 with V-8 like performance and 4 cylinder like fuel economy (I think they are targeting the 2.4 L in the Camry).
I am not sure if will be able to afford it (I know your parents can). I estimate it will be between $65,000 to $70,000. And you thought a Civic Hybrid was expensive....
Mark
BTW, the reason why you likely didn't feel the engine rev hard in the Civic Hybrid is because it was the CVT doing the work at first. Vehicle speed will change with no change in engine speed. That is the whole point of CVT.
