Clutch is going?

Well when I put the car in first gear and start going the tranny squeels, I'm thinking its the clutch because it won't make that sound any other time.

How much would a new clutch and labor for a 99 honda civic si cost?
Thanks!

Get myself and zeeman to change it. It can be done the sameday and we are the best mechanics around to work on your vehicle.

PM if you want an actual labour quote. Only shitty thing is, we are in Oakville.

I just checked and the labour rate on a 99 civic si is 5.2 hrs.

So roughly.. you are looking at around $450-500 in just labour plus tax. I can do it for a lot less.

do this, get up to speed, throw it in high gear so your rpms would be low and floor on the gas, if your rpms go up yet car doesnt accelerate that means your clutch is gone. otherwise its not.

That is more a test for a slipping pressure plate.

He is experiencing a squeel/noise that is most likely coming from the throw out bearing.

5.2 hours, now thats funny. On my system at work it shows only 4 hours to do a clutch on the car. And we would still do for less then that.

Ah nvm I was lil drunk last night when I responded to that lol.
Wouldn't it make the sound in every gear then if its the throw out bearing?
Also Jeremy stop street racing, car will hold for longer lol

Not necessarily. Noises can occur at different load points. The load in 1st gear, is no where near the load in 3rd gear or 4th.

I'd really have to hear the noise to say what it is though.

Stage 2 will grip better and will handle more power without slipping.

He doesnt need a stage 2 if its his stock SOHC. Damn i had a clutchmaster on my SOHC and i ddnt bother checking if it was ok or not when i threw away the motor. It sure ddnt have no more than 60,000km on it.

Don't put a stage 2 clutch on a stock motor. It grabs too hard and is a pain in the a$$ to drive.
