What happens if u miss your court date?

Ok i've just realized i've missed my court date. They send me a letter saying that i haven't been to the court date. Now i got 2 tickets. 1 was speeding and 1 was failure to show insurance. I showed the insurance slip to the cop and he still wrote me a ticket. He said if i take it to court he will dismiss that 1. So what can i do now? I can't reschedule it or talk to any 1? So i have to pay the fine? I dun mind about my speeding once since it was my fault for not knowing my court date. Second, what i didn't receive my letter or they lost my letter while they try to send me a court date, then who can i talk to about that?

Pls ppl i'm already have a bad time and a lot of things happened with me and my gf so any 1 can give me advice of what i can do. Is the options only to pay or can i call this # or i go directly to the court place and talk to them? Hope someone can help and don't smash my thread because this is some serious stuff.

take it to the JP (justice of the peace) and they will decide whether or not to reschedule your court date. i had one on june 30 of last year, and they told us on the previous court date (it had been rescheduled as the cop didn't give us full discloser and we asked for it 3 times), that i would be on the docket for 2:30pm. when i got there i was on the docket for 1:30. the next day i went and talked to the JP and they rescheduled my court date until june.4/06

You showed the cop pink insurance slip and he gave you the ticket, doesn't make sense because the slip is the proof that your car has a insurance.

no, nothing written, but if officer hardass gives out about 100 tickets per month, and officer jerk only gives out about 60 tickets per month, and they work the same area alternating shifts, it's going to be assumed that officer jerk is spending too much time trying to pick up girls and sleeping in the car.

if a notice was sent to you and you didnt go because you forgot its your fault.

if the notice wasnt recived by you through the mail then you can go into the jp office and apply to reopen the case but the jp has final say as to if you will or will not get it.

for you getting a ticket after you showed him your insurance slip is telling me that your insurance slip is out of date in which case either get real insurance or get the updated copy.

it is real insurance. What are u talking about. It is my dad's company car. He told me to show he insurance. I was looking for it. He said find the insurance and bring it to my car. I didn't know that u are allowed to get out of your car when u get pulled over. So i wait for him to come over. Then i showed him. He said i already wrote u the ticket so when u go to court just show it and i will dismiss it.
