I'd be careful, the internet has ears if you know what I mean.

He has your info, you have his, I wouldn't be this guy if I were you.

He's doing his job, people have pet peeves, you're telling me that if you have a badge you wouldn't go balistic on people that were doing something you can't stand???

I'd be pulling over every guy that didn't signal, everyone with a broken tail light, and everyone that was driving at night with no lights on! Man that ticks me off, especially the no lights, that is so MORONIC not to mention a public hazard.

I'm not saying what he did was right but there's no need to be a rude to the guy either, you're not a cop.

Think like a lawyer, cool calm collected, but if you're in the right hit him with facts, not emotion.

my 2 cents

hahahah yeah ok.. be calm and collected and BAM careless driving ticket.. I caught him on his mistake and made sure he knew it!!.. I don't care if it's his pet peeve.. He has to respect me and I'll respect him. Come on, he comes out and yells at me, doesn't want to listen to a word I have to say? Doesn't want to listen to my end of the story? Yeah I should have been nice to him, good call there! Some of you still don't know, you think cops are all big and bad all the time? NO! they love to prey on people who sit and take their ****. You can tell when a cop is just out to get you.. Just like poor coreyheyman I thnk it was.. who got towed.. you think that's justified? you think if he was all nice he wouldn't have been busted? I know I would have been screwed with that ticket if the cop didn't throw himself in front of me.. lucky for me he did and I got the opportunity to treat him the way he treats everyone else.

I know my record was spotless, I know my car had no faults for him to **** on and I knew I was NOT wrong, I DID NOT BREAK THE LAW, it's NOT illegal. I don't understand how some of you don't realize that.. IT'S NOT ILLEGAL.. It's dangerous under certain situations, like on the highway or in rain or in sharp turns and what not.. I was on a straight road, dry weather, doing speed limit AND I HUNG UP!! I was on it for like a minute..

Funniest part is how some of you actually act like you NEVER have done anything negative driving related.. get a grip.. lol

no one's claiming that they've never done anything illegal...
we're just confused about how you're attacking this cop for pulling you over for something that you we're actually doing!
sure...he acted like a dick...and treated you like an idiot, or as if he thought you were an idiot...
instead of acting like you were maltreated, and ranting and raving about how he was a dick...just consider yourself lucky...instead of right!

All I'm saying be careful.

I know people that the cops harrass.

Fact: cops read this board.
Cops are given a lot of leway when it comes to traffic.
(ie they can pull you over for 9 Km of the limit, they can pull you over for not comming to a complete stop at a stop sign)

Cops have friends.
All this guy has to do is tell all his friends that this guy with this lic plate number gave me a hard time and was posting on a board about how ..blah blah blha.
Next thing you know, EVERY police car you pass pulls you over and checks everything with a fine tooth comb and gives you NO room for error.

All I'm saying is becareful when you tap a nail into a crack in a dam.

If you want to fight back there's a time a place for it, it's called court. When you bring him to court you are put on a equal level with the police and they have to answer for their actions.

and it's NOT illegal to be on a cell phone will driving.. There's no charge for CELL PHONE WHILE DRIVING, so all they can charge you under is careless driving.. it's all up to the cop! In this case, it was his monthly quota talking, it had nothing to do with careless driving.

Thank for the backup Bruno....
FYI, there is no monthly quota. This guy was just being a HUGE DICK... but you were in the 'right' sorta. But just some advice, don;t always think thst everytime you jump outta your car and start yelling at a cap that he's gonna let you off.

I friend of mine who is a cop simply pulled over a guy coming out of a gas station because he forgot to put the lid on his tank (BTW, it was an integra). The owner of the teg started flipping out and saying "WTF you pull me over for, your discrimating against honda's"... well, my cop friend said that was enough, and charged him for every possible thing he could find on his car. That guy walked away with around 600$ in tickets after that. Just repect the cop, talk to him nicely, and usually good things will come.

Personally, I would say you just got lucky.

I on the highways everyday and occasionally I get pulled over for speeding, even had my license suspended for too many points once, even got pulled over a few times when others too were obviously in the wrong, but, so was I! So I don't bitch and complain, I take the ticket, why? Because I f'd up, the speed limits 100, and I drive a hellava lot faster than that, so when a cop pulls me over, he doesn't say it's because I'm driving a Civic, it's usually the bloody legs hanging out of my trunk...

Don't worry, he'l learn one day.

also.....

It's dangerous under certain situations

Did you ever stop to think that maybe the cop DID think that it WAS unsafe at the time?

Like echien said, you'd be surprised what might happen now. ie......like one guy on here that got into an accident......he was first found "not at fault", but after he opened he big mouth about something else later on, the cops reopened his case, and are now investigating the original accident again. He now might be charged for carless driving and a couple of other things.

Funny, I haven't seen that guy post on here since then.

So if you want to go ahead and post your feelings about what happened to you......go right ahead...no one is stopping you, but remember, this board and every every one out there (including the memebers forum), can and will be seen by some that's not suppose to see it sometimes.

Sometimes it better to shut your mouth, and keep it to yourself.

My 2C's.

Pulovr, point well taken man. Best bet is not to publicize it and no will have anytihng to say.. What can I say, I was just upset and let it out!(posted it on the board) especially after reading about coreyhaymen..

I completely agree that the cop could have thought it was un-safe but in the same sense, he can't just jump out into on coming traffic and be yelling at me.. The main thing here was that it would have been a 6 point ticket for something I seriously felt was not right. I got 2 cops friends myself actually, one of them is my neighbor!!! He's a durham cop, I told him about it, he told me, if that cop could have given a lot more **** than he did but didn't because you had a witness there. That was also the main reason I chose to speak back on this because I had the guy to back me up. Specially considering so much cop negativity is showing up on the news and stuff...

But again I agree with you.. just shutup and don't post it or expect to get negative responses..

Thanks!

I drove all the way to Vancouver last summer in my uncle's accord! and i was going behing this wan at about 130km, the province( don't remmember which province) speed limit was 110km. so i 'm driving behing him in Highway1 (its a two lane Highway) and this cop comes out of one of those dirt roads and jumps right in front of me to stop the van, i just slammed my break. I almost lost my control. even the cop realized that it was really dangerous and he came and apologized after i stopped behind him!!

Cablerat, I'm just trying to help out. I've been here long enough to see some weird **** happen to some members of this board, and I know some of you have seen the same **** too.
