Improper Left Turn

OK, so I'm on the Gardiner getting off at Yonge and I don't know if anyone knows the lanes divide into four. OK, so I'm at the spot and there is a lot traffic and some ******* doesn't let me get to the left lane to go towards Yonge. So, I'm stuck in the second lane from left and I ask the girl who is in the left lane if I can go in front of her. She says OK but the lane I'm in is only to go straight. So when I take a left turn the cop stops me and hands me a ticket. I decided to go for plea of guilty but what do you think I could say in addition to this to get this ticket off me.

The ticket states their was a violation of section 141(6) of the Highway traffic act.

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

as this was in toronto , it will be at least a year before they call you up to go to court so i wouldnt worry too much about what you are going to say right now

As a matter of fact , I m still waiting for my court date for 3 tickets ( 2 parking and one blue cover on license plate) , its been over a year and a half for the first one and almost 5 months for the last two.. Still waiting

I called the court and they say that i should still wait

Once you get a court date you can start worrying about what you are going to say ...

Actually I got my letter yesterday that's why I posted this thread. Sorry, I didn't specify earlier. But yeah I waited around 8 months for this and by the way this is what Section 141(6) states but I am unable to comprehend what it means.

Left turn, at intersection

(6) Where a driver or operator of a vehicle intends to turn to the left into an intersecting highway, he or she shall, where the highway on which he or she is driving has marked lanes for traffic, approach the intersection within the left-hand lane provided for the use of traffic moving in the direction in which his or her vehicle is proceeding or, where it has no such marked lanes, by keeping immediately to the right of the centre line of the highway and he or she shall make the left turn by entering the intersection to the right of the centre line or its extension and by leaving the intersection in the left-hand lane provided for the use of traffic moving in the direction in which his or her vehicle is proceeding where the lane is marked or, where no such lane is marked, by passing immediately to the right of the centre line of the intersecting highway. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 141 (6).

^Basically, it means left turns need to be made by starting in the proper left hand turn lane and ending your turn in the left hand lane on the road you're turning onto.

Make sense?

Just tell the judge you weren't blocking traffic. The woman beside you let you in and you safely changed lanes without causing any back up behind you. Should get reduced at least.
