Fail to Signal Lane Change

Fail to Signal Lane Change
Basically yesterday,
I signal for a left turn, but instead of staying on the right center lane, i ended up in the right lane and the cop gave me a ticket for not signal on a lane change..
I would think improper left turn would of been the correct ticket.. Anyway to fight this ticket?
He also said that I didn't stop at the stop sign before I made the left turn.. But that was BS, cause I stop and then roll forward to check the road before making my turn.. He didn't give me a ticket for that.. but said he would bring that up if I go to court..
My question is, do I have to defend myself on tickets he didn't issue at the time?

He can bring it up but you can not be convicted of the offence if you didn't receive a ticket for it at the time ( thats my understanding but please correct me if I'm wrong for the next time I go to court ). Plus you can make him look like he wasn't sure what exactly you were doing wrong, making your specific ticket less believable (hopefully).
