lane change not in safety
my friend recently got one of these tickets when he apparently cut off a cop (which he did not)
the cop was in a bad mood or something.. but pulled my friend over and slapped him with this $180 ticket + 2 demerit points
basically my question is.. does any1 have any experience fighting these?
is there any way to have the charges reduced? to at least one that does not have demerit points?
or is it all or nothing
Thanks!

Story is.. my friend was pulled over for cutting a cop off apparently..
my friend doesn't think so
either way.. there was a slow moving vehicle ahead (salt truck weaving on the highway) with flashing blue lights.. my friend was doing speed limit.. and tried to pass the truck when the cop pulled him over
so obviously the cop was flying since my friend supposedly cut him off.. and should not have been under the circumstances

Your friend went to change lanes to get around the salt truck and didn't notice the other car travelling around the same speed in his blind spot, and thus really did cut him off.
Or, and this happens too many times every day with too many impatient drivers in the GTA, your friend figured he had "just" enough room to deke out in front of that other car, rather than lift off the gas and wait behind that salt truck until a more suitable gap appeared before changing lanes.
And we all know that when you get a traffic ticket, it's never "really" your fault, right?
In any case, there is no other "lesser" charge to bargain this one down to. Mind you, you could bargain it up to a careless driving (6 points and $400 or more) if you're really determined
