You siad you were already IN the intersection, but you were behind one car. Well there is only supposed to be one car at a time in the intersection. So you shouldn't have been out there in the first place putting yourself in the situation to have to drive thro the red.

Yep - only one car in the intersection at a time. That's the law.. try that in Buffalo - $250 USD fine.
