2007 Civic's, Need some purchasing tips!
Hello All.
Some of you might recognize me from the Toronto Integra Forums.
I think I might be heading to the "dark side", as I am leaning towards buying a civic as a replacement car.
I have been shopping around through some used cars and I came across a 2007 4 Door Civic which I will be seeing tomorrow. (Not sure which model.)
I have been reading the reviews on the 2007's and I've seen many complaints about a 3rd Gear Issue, Battery Issues, Rear Tire Wear, Overall Noisyness and Sun Visor's Breaking.
I was wondering if anyone can give me an idea of things to look out for when checking out the car?
Here's one of the links I was looking at:
Used 2007 Honda Civic - Hamilton - Kia of Hamilton
Also, I heard that some of the cars had an issue which was capable of making your tires fall off?
I have been looking at other civics with low mileage, 2001, 2002, but I figured if I'm going to lock into financing for the next while, may as well be "new-ish".
Please advise.
Thanks,
Mixed1

3rd Gear Issue, Is an Si issues, mostly with the 06 and 07. Ive had both and Ive never had a tranny issue.
Battery Issues, Never heard of those. What is the issues you heard of? My original battery has 94,000ks on it and still going strong.
Rear Tire Wear, Caused by rear camber. Honda issues a TSB for it that replaces the rear control arms with different ones. Less rear camber, but the cars apparently dont handle as well either.
Overall Noisyness, Its an economy car with less sound deadening then a luxury car. They also use mediocre OEM tires that can be noisey.
Sun Visor's Breaking, Heard about, but never experienced it. I read that the plastic can weaken in high temperatures. Honda also has a TSB for them.
Also, I heard that some of the cars had an issue which was capable of making your tires fall off? Making your tires fall off lol! Some of the earlier ones were recalled for a faulty O-ring in the rear suspension. Given enough time and damage, yes a wheel might fall off if the hub failed, but thats pretty unlikely.
Ive had 3 newer Civics. An 06 Ex, an O6 Si and my current 07 Si and Ive never had any major issues. The 2 06s had some minor stuff under warranty, but thats it. My 07 has been basically perfect. Interior plastics and seat materials dont wear very well, but thats my only real complaint.
