7th gen "check engine"

Is there any way to check the service light on a 7th gen?
On my old Neon, you could check codes by turning the key a few times and counting lights. I was wondering if there was anything like that for the Civic as well.

I don't know how, but you "can"

you use a paperclip to connect 2 points in the fusebox or some ****. then the CEL will flash and you count it much like you did with your neon.

but why bother? autozone pulls codes for free. they will tell you exactly what code and the "symptom" related to that code, and clear it for you if you want.
