6th gen. more parts around, more options to mod the car.

6th Gen for sure...

Personally, I love the 4th gen, but they're getting harder and harder to find.

6th gen forever!

Lighter, better suspension, better engine options, better aftermerket support, better looks, better everything.

IMO, the 6th gen was the best and last REAL generation of the civic.

(the new ones are nice, don't get me wrong, but they are too big and heavy to be what I define as a "civic").

The heaviest 7th gen is still around 2,600lbs, i wouldn't classify that as big or heavy (It's definately no 8th gen, which is a pig). The interior of the 7th gen is definately nicer then that of the 6th gen as well (stock seats on the EJ8 absolutely blow).

I agree with most of the other statements though, in terms of mod-ability and fun factor, go with the EK. Also D16Y8 has real vttakkk, whereas the D17A2 doesn't (economy vtec).

However, if it's going to be your daily driver, get the 7th gen. Why? Because you can drive your car to movie theatres, park it at go stations, and leave it on the street overnight without worrying about it being stolen, it's more comfortable, and looks better

^^ By big and heavy, I mostly meant the 8th gen. but the 7th gen, imo, doesn't look as good and had no good engine options (performance wise). However I've seen a few k-swaps...

And good point about the 7th gen's, you can leave them anywhere and nobody will steal it! lol

I had a 6th gen (98 Si), a 7th gen (03 LX) and I have an 8th gen now (07 Si).

For a fun car to mod and have as a toy, Id take another 6th gen. But, for a normal, reliable, comfy daily driver, Id take the 7th gen.

For both... my fat, heavy, slow, boring, ugly, expensive, hard to work on and tune, 8th gen.
