Where Can I Get 10 Gauge Speaker Wire In Bulk?
Anybody know where I can get 10 gauge speaker wire in bulk or about 100ft? I re-doing my home theatre downstairs so I'm upgrading everything. I would prefer local but if you know of any good reputable online stores, any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Freddy

In theory 16 gauge with 100 watts RMS per channel will go over 120ft per run without having any audible degration.
So for you telling me going from 16 awg to 12 is kind of hard to believe, unless you were running allot of power per channel and had very long speaker runs.

Alright guys, I went to several shops and they all recommended 16 gauge wiring...
What a week though, spent about $600 in cables and speaker wires, all THX certified. I upgraded the receiver, centre speaker and rear surround speakers as well. Home theatre is now complete!

Upgraded all the following cables (All THX certified, most of them I had to buy 2-3 sets.):
- Audio cable
- Component Video Cable
- A/V cable
- Subwoofer Cable
- Coaxial Cable
- Optical Cable
- Speaker Wire
- S-Video Cable
I'm probably missing a few but you guys get an idea....lol...btw, I even have the SNES hooked up to the HT...lol.
My dad even bought a black leather reclining sofa just to compliment the H-T, I'll post pics in the members section soon.

THX certification is more of a logo or branding than anything. Its like buying into a Tim Hortons franchise, you need that stamp of approval to sell the timmies goods, but for an end user point of view it is overly pricey for some copper wire with a shield
Just to give you an idea, monoprice has some DVI cables under $8 for a 3ft unit, which if you buy it here its gonna be closer to $30.
I will never buy Monster Cables / Overly pricey cables and 3ft speaker wires that claim to be touched by god himself that sell fro $1000 a pair
I just hope this spending spree didn't set you back because really it wasn't worth it

Best Buy... FutureShop and Monster are making a killing from these wires that people worship because of some fancy shielding and clever marketing.
Stick to quality oxygen free... well sheiled cables and you won't notice a difference between the million dollar monster cables and a lesser-known name brand for 10% of the price.
I have to give it to Monster though for their marketing schemes.
I've asked many FutureShop employees to explain the difference between the Monster cables and some quality no name brand cables.... they've always answered "Monster is much better cause it's made by Monster... if you spend thousand's of dollars on your HT... why would you cheap out on cable"...... you gotta love marketing!
